Marg commenced her psychology practice supporting injured clients return to work under Workcover, motor vehicle insurance and Commonwealth disability employment schemes.
For 10 years she worked as a senior psychologist at the Interdisciplinary Persistent Pain Centre (Gold Coast Health) assisting patients with chronic pain regain improved quality of life. During this time, Marg created and facilitated a range of group programs, worked successfully with clients with multiple health and psychiatric conditions and published journal articles on chronic pain models of care. Marg is trained in OldPain2Go a new reprocessing method to remove unnecessary pain.
Marg is a certified instructor of Empowered Relief TM, an evidence-based single-session pain class that rapidly equips patients with pain management skills. Commencing in 2023, Marg will be regularly offering Empowered Relief TM as an online class. Whilst working with veterans who have experienced trauma and clients who are either injured or experiencing chronic illness, Marg saw the impact of physical and psychological health conditions on their relationships. To better support couples, Marg completed Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses the evidence based Gottman Method Couples Therapy in her therapy work.
Marg is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and member of the International Hypnosis Association. In addition to a diploma in clinical hypnotherapy, Marg has undertaken specialised hypnotherapy training to support pregnant women and their birthing partners prepare for childbirth by personalising a hypnosis program for them.
Marg uses an integrative approach to therapy involving a range of therapeutic models and techniques depending on the client’s presentation and the goals of therapy. She is available to work with clients of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, adjustment issues, chronic disease, chronic pain, mood disorders and trauma. Additionally, Marg offers couples therapy using evidence based treatment and speciality clinical hypnotherapy programs in preparation for childbirth.
She works collaboratively with medical specialists, general practitioners, government agencies, insurers, disability providers and other allied health practitioners using a holistic approach to achieve improved client outcomes.
